Nov. 6, 2020 ~ Patience
Ephesians
4:2 – Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in
love.”
They say that patience is a virtue, but as I sit here writing
(typing) this on Wednesday, Nov. 4 waiting like the rest of you to find out
which way the election results went… Patience is for the birds! I have never really been a particularly
patient person. If there was cake or
brownies in the oven, I was standing there waiting on them to come out! Give me a warm brownie with ice cream or
milk! Yummy!!!
If you really want to learn patience try loading a horse
that doesn’t want to get in a trailer.
Omega was a lovely little ¾ Arabian mare that liked to do things in her
own way and her own time. A simple ride
down a dirt road was an adventure some days.
The tree that was there yesterday? Today had horse eating monsters in
it. Most of the time she was very
agreeable to whatever was asked of her.
With the exception of walking into a trailer. You defiantly did not plan on loading in a
hurry to go anywhere! Some days she
would peaceably hop right on next to Boogie, others, you were there for an hour
or more while she played the horsie hokey pokey… “You put your front feet in, you take your front feet out, you put your
front feet in then you run your owners around….” With plenty of carrots, apples and cookies
and the patience of Job she finally learned that we were NOT going to let her
play the horsie hokey pokey any more.
In this ever changing time and year we have to be patient
as well as gentle with ourselves. Things
are not normal and we don’t know when they will be back to our old normal. We are living in a new normal and learning to
adapt and change with the times. I know
I didn’t plan on my 2020 to go this way, I’m sure you didn’t either. So, in this ever changing time that we are in
let’s all remember to be a little kinder, a little gentler and patient with one
another. Let’s see each other through
the eyes of love and understanding.
Gracious
Father,
When
I lose patience, remind me to take a breath and wait before speaking or
doing. Please help me be at peace with
the ever changing world around me as I wait for your timing and plans to
unfold. Amen.
